I have again and again refused the offer of $1000 in gold mines share and of the most costilly magnificent gifts and wherefore? (Message) Because I did not want them and I was as grateful for the offer as I could be for the gift. Not so is it with the Bible that contained the name of the Christian Scientists text bookEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that was published six months before I knew that Wyckliff had employed that phrase Science and Health in the sense of the "knowledge of Salvation" How perfectly appropriate is that rendering to the mission of my BookEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy How wonderous is God's providence how wise His ways how insignificant our comprehension of His purpose and how strange that little I should be the theme of ancient prophecy and scribe of divine Love's infinite plan of salvation

O God, keep me humble at the feet of Christ, the Spiritual Idea of all that is Divine in patient prayer watching working waiting patiently every moment of this momentous mission trust and of God’s [?] Unclear or illegible  Again and yet again I thank and always shall thank you for this book I was six weeks waiting on God for that title and when I decided on it was told it was not a proper one Well do I remember when Miss Dorcas Rawson brought Wyckliffe' version of The to me in 1875 And showed me those two words Science and Health how I desired to own that book I felt somewhat as I did after raising Mrs. Gale Dr. Amos Gale's widow of Manchester New HampshireAs Written:N.H. From a hopeless stage of pneumonia to heath with one interview and charged her nothing for it but saw a little child at play with a book took up the book read the title Smith's Dictionary of the Bible and asked her if she would give that book to me I had sold my library and all that I could part with to to barely live and was often without hungry for lack of the means to pay for sufficient food and could not buy it unless I could pay for it When I left all for my mission I was writing for a leading Magazine whose editor offered me $3000 annully and another who said name your price we want you to write for us. I was a widow
