My dearest Teacher I trust you are in receipt of my letter of last weekEditorial Note: See 589.60.012. sent to Miss Moarn’s As Written: Moarns address. I felt that I must write you this morning, for truly a fresher light has dawned upon my Spiritual vision. I have truly been in the wilderness of SinEx 16:1 And they took their journey from
Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between
Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
or mortal mind, hungry and thirsty my soul has been crying out to the living God – Feed me with living bread, lead me to living fountains, “Give me understanding that I may live”Ps 119:144 The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live. , Daily the prayer divinely taught, its spiritual meaning comprehended, the new tongue in which it has been interpreted to you, And given to us in legible lines has been my prayer

How I have desired to enter the real of its boundless domain, it seems to cover all the ground, Teaches that God is the all of eternal things and thoughts, Life harmonious as the all and eternal

Why should we think to isolate ourselvesAs Written: ourself , and speak of intelligences, as if they did not belong to the great whole. Why doubt its ever presence, and deny its supremacy, how can it be otherwise?

“Give me the understanding of Truth and Love” has been the burden of my prayer – and also this clause “Lead me unto the Life that is Soul” Why have I been so long coming to it, I can compare myself to a poor blind beggar with no one to lead him, hearing voices but unable to comprehend form, or outline, nothing definite – puzzled, confused, blind BartemiusMark 10:46 ¶And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind
Bartimæus, the son of
Timæus, sat by the highway side begging.
Mark 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. Mark 10:48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. Mark 10:49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. Mark 10:50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. Mark 10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. Mark 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
as he Sat by the waysideAs Written:way side hearing the tramp of a mighty multitude cried out, and that voice backed by the energies of the eternal Spirit God, brought right to his hitherto sightless eyes

Was I less faithlessAs Written:faithles than that poor blind man? had I not even felt the healing virtue of omnipotent power? Yes, but could I learn, or learn from that? No, O, no I must enter into the Spirit of my demonstration. Yes but I must understand the Principle ere I could demonstrate. I have had some success not marked. Do you wonder? had it not been that the tiniest grain of leaven may be felt, and seen in its action, I should have stood as the dunce of our class. But I have felt of late that I was pushing out from the rock beaten shores of time into the ocean of God’s As Written: Gods omnipotent Love. The day starII Pet 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. of hope began to glimmer on the margin of my mental vision-

I saw things resolved into thoughts at times, And again the old thinking, my skyAs Written:skye mental was overcast with impenetrable clouds, at times a total eclipse seemed to shut out all light, but like this phenomenon, these experiences were not of long duration. I could not until now understand the appeals of the Psalmist “O. God why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy”Ps 43:2 For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? . “My Soul thirsteth for the living God when Shall I appear before Him”Ps 42:2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? . “Why hidest thou thy face from me”Ps 88:14 Lord, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me? “Make me to understand the way of thy precepts, so shall I talk of all thy wonderous works-“Ps 119:27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works. “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wonderous things out of thy law”Ps 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. , “Remove from me the ways of lying, and grant me thy law graciously”Ps 119:29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously. “Have stuck unto thy (commandments) thy testimonies O Lord put me not to Shame”Ps 119:31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame. “Mine eyes fail for thy word Saying when wilt thou comfot me”Ps 119:82 Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me? , “It is time for the Lord to work, for they have made void thy law”Ps 119:12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes. Have I not felt these petitions God knoweth they have been ever before me Since I wakened to consciousness hitherto As Written: hithertoo a deep sleep had fallen upon me, But I heard the voice, “Awake thou that sleepeth and Christ shall give thee light”Eph 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. “They shall not all sleep. but they shall be changed”I Cor 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, . The trumpet tone of Truth is sounding in our dull ears this day. And blessed are they that hear – I must hasten to tell you of a days experience in my own family Georgie the middle boy was taken suddenly very ill in belief. Mr Williams with strong Democratic proclivities does not object to the use of Sweet Cider, having purchased the yearly allowance, putting in chemicals As Written: chemichals to preserve its sweetness As Written: sweetnes , and prevent fermentation. The two boys with straws and occasionally a glass or more drank unsparingly. I was apprised As Written: apprized of the Same by the girl. I warned them against intemperance telling them it was a Sin to be intemperate and if they did get sick in belief they would have to suffer for the Sin, as the penalty for sin was never remitted – ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science would bring them through but the whip of divine justice would never the nevertheless As Written: less fall and do its work “Temperance I said is the wise and judicious use of things useful. Prohibition is the total abstinence of things hurtful” and that of course is Metaphysical, Well Geo did not heed the words of truth and so suffered for his sin. I went to his room near midnight, his countenance wore the pallor As Written: palor of death. He said to me when free from the paroxysms of pain that had nearly deprived him of speech, Mother if there is nothing in ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science truly there is nothing in medicine. I Said to him once, would you wish to take medicine, “No I would not touch it no never, I had not so much as thought there was such a thing, and never in my life was I ill before but that I was frightened but from first to last I have not had one fear” –

Whoever As Written: Who ever heard of medicine casting out fear, opiates may dull the sensibilities and thus silence sense but with the waking from the abnormal stupor comes the fear. and it sits as a phantom deaths headEditorial Note: skull to terrify? As Written: terify those its has seemed to bless. As I sat talking with George and Charles last, evening in the little upper room where my blessed mother spent the most of her time and the last ten weeks of her earth sojourn, Like a ray of light from the eternal throne all came clear and beautiful I was at the time sitting where the beautiful life (at that time seemed to expire). I then had no correct ideas concerning Life, it seemed to me pent up in these narrow walls of flesh, And the death of the physical was the only possible way of releasing the Soul – I can Say the birth of that new idea came in the twinkling of an eye. I am no longer in doubt. What could have been more beautiful, Where death sat as victor a few short months ago, Life was presented in its twofold As Written: two fold ministration. “Beauty for Ashes, the oil of Joy for mourning”Isa 61:1 The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; Isa 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. , And I said truly the wayfaring man though a fool need not err.Isa 35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. He that runs may readHab 2:2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. ”, But I think now I was not ready to run. I was to wait patiently after that I had been taught the Way of His commandmentsPs 119:32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

I truly have been since I left you traveling in the wilderness, And much of the time with neither Cloud or pillarEx 13:21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: Ex 13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. . My sandals have not grown oldDeut 29:5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. or rusty for they were the preparation of the gospelEph 14:16 .

Constantly I can say “ His word has been my delightPs 119:92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. and in it (His law) – have I meditated day and nightPs 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Ps 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. , Whatever may be my success. I shall no longer be a trembler between hope and fear God helping me. I began to see things as one of old some two weeks ago. “Men as trees walking”Mark 8:22 ¶And he cometh to
Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
Mark 8:23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw aught. Mark 8:24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. Mark 8:25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
and then again doubt drew her curtain, and I seemed to stand alone again but feet upon the rockPs 40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. Ps 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. -
