Manuscript Description: Handwritten by William Payne on embossed lined paper from Springfield, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Payne is responding to a letter dated October 11, 1883, (not extant) that his wife
(Ann Payne) received from Mary Baker Eddy. He says that Christian Science is so new to them,
but they see much promise in it. He sends $1.50 ($39.18 in 2016) for a year's subscription
to The Christian Science Journal and two pamphlets: Christian Healing and The People's God.
