William Payne (1822-1903) was born in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, England, and died in Springfield, Massachusetts. He emigrated to the United States with his wife, Ann, in 1849. The Paynes settled in Springfield where William worked as a harness maker. There is no record of William studying with Mary Baker Eddy or joining the Church of Christ (Scientist).
