Dear Mrs. Eddy.

Please excuse my writing to you, but I have got so near discouraged over my ailments, yet so much encouraged and benefited by your manner of treating the sickEditorial Note: Christian Science, and the reading of your booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, that I felt as if it would do me good to write to you, even if you did not write to me.

The 14th of last May I went to Chicago expecting to be treated for hip disease by Miss Elen Brown, she had so much to do that she sent me to Mrs. M. Philbrick, I stayed As Written: staid in ChicagEditorial Note: Chicago, Illinois until the 15th of June, and was treated by Mrs Philbrick nearly everyday As Written: every day (Sundays excepted) then I came home a took 3 weeks absent treatment, but I am far from well yet. I can’t As Written: cant tell just where the trouble is with me, I expect I can’t As Written: cant put aside self and personal senseAs Written:senase, completely enough to let my Immortal mind govern all. I can help myself in all except my lameness & my eyesight

My right hip has troubled me for nearly 20 years. 17 years ago it got very bad and doctored for it nearly a year, with a Homeopathy Dr. since then I have only taken something for my bloodAs Written:blook occasionally, the last year my hip has been getting worse.

I am in my 53rd year have 2 children a daughter in her 23rd year & a son in his 19th year, I live on a farm and have always done my own work except a few summers, never had but very little sickness. am perfectly well now except my hip.

I don’t As Written: dont know as you have time to spare a moment or a thought for me, but I told Mrs Philbrick that it seemed to me it might be like the woman of old who touched the hem of Christs garmentMatt 9:20 ¶And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: Matt 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. Matt 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. Mark 5:25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, Mark 5:26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, Mark 5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. Mark 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. Mark 5:29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. Mark 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? Mark 5:31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? Mark 5:32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. Mark 5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. Mark 5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Luke 8:43 ¶And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Luke 8:44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. Luke 8:45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? Luke 8:46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. Luke 8:47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. Luke 8:48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. if I could write to you.

I desire no other way of treatment do think I shall be healed by it in time but it is so slow now that my patience is almost gone. this is the only excuse I can offer for troubling you with a letter.

I subscribed for the Christian Scinence Journal, 3 weeks ago, and send the money by Mrs Philbrick, but have received no Journal yet.

Respectfully yours
Ada Hinkley
