⇉ Handshift:Theresa S. De ForestClevelandEditorial Note: Cleveland, Ohio April 20 1886
I have just received your circular, and read its contents, and I should very much like to avail myselfAs Written:my-self of the many advantages your college offers, as I have become very interested in the work you are doing. But I find your charges more than I can afford at present, as my means is very limited. I understand there are teachers who are less expensive, of whom I could learn the first principles, with direction for farther study, If you would kindly recommend such a one, either east or west, I shall esteem it a very great favor and perhaps I may be able to be under your instruction later. I will tell you a little how I am situated, I am a widow and for the past eleven years since my husbands death, I have been employed in the stamp department of the Cleveland Post office, and until As Written: untill this year have had others beside myselfAs Written:my-self to do for, since the change in the administration there are duties required such as opening on Sundays, which make it very disagreeable to me, and I find the long hours and close confinement is becoming very wearing, so I am very anxious to make a change. I think the healing of the sick would be very much to my taste and happiness, not considering the remunerative part.
I hope you will not consider me troublesome writing so much of myselfAs Written:my-self, for I wish so much to be advised rightly. I enclose money order for your bookEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, If you will tell me how long a time it requires to become familiar with the first principles of the scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, and any other particulars you may think wise for me to know, I shall feel very greatly obliged to you,
