Theresa S. De Forest (1841-1919) was born in New York and died in Palo Alto, California. In 1861, she married Louis G. De Forest, who served as a Captain for the Union Army during the American Civil War. After her husband's death, she worked in the stamp department of the Cleveland, Ohio, post office for many years before retiring and moving to California in 1904. Although she expressed an interest in studying at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, there is no record of her doing so.
