For many weeks – I have had it in my heart to write to you: And this month – shall not pass – without I send you – some expression of that which has been uppermost in my thoughts – for the past eight months. –– Last October, I receivedAs Written:rec'd 'the blessed Healing'– through the gentle ministration of "Mrs L. L. Campbell," New YorkEditorial Note: New York, New York, The desire to know – thoroughly, and absolutely – "The Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S." –– has overpowered – all else,– in my mind & life. And I must know it from, & with you – – You. ––––

To be with you – & to study with youand to have my GertrudeEditorial Note: Possibly gratitude – under your blessed ministration is –(& has been)– the great desire – for months. ––

'Mrs Eddy'– what can I do? – Is there any way? What terms – can you hold out – to me? Are there any–? Can I secure your blessed 'Teaching'– (for me, & mine) – in any – practical – way; (beside – "Cash- in advance.") I am not able– to pay –– according to your rules. I am poor – in purse, but feel that I possess – 'untold riches'! And long – to be able to reach out to other waiting hands – 'This Heavenly Title.'–

Will you not answer me – personally? And to this address? (As I soon leave – for Newburgh, New YorkAs Written:N. Y.) ––– I must be a practical, "Christian ScientistAs Written:C. S."– Nothing but 'Your' Teaching, will satisfy– me! – I believe it is the privilege, & prerogative– of every "Christian ScientistAs Written:C. S.." –– to effect – 'Instant Healing'. That thought – burdens me–, with a loving zeal!

Accept this plea? this 'letter of inquiry'? And I pray you – dear, noble, God-Inspired– – Woman, send me some 'Word of Light'?–

Our mutual friend – (Mrs F. McN. Potter) – once introduced me to yourself, & Husband, on 'Capitol Hill'– several years ago. – I have seen "Miss Gray"– twice. Have sent her a number of "Patients"– from among my 'patrons,' & 'friends'.

I have no other – "Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S. –"Sympathy"– here. "Mr & Mrs CampbellEditorial Note: J. Allen Campbell and Lysbeth L. Campbell" are two of God's beautiful, & blessed, Children: ––– I am a Teacher of " Science "– But – Mrs Eddy – my Great burden – is – "Send me to Mrs Eddy– to learn – to know – to study "Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S."! All else – than this 'Christ-Healing'–– pales – before it!

I await a message from you – that I may know – if there is any way – I can accept – now? –– Heartfully – yours – Lu. A. Allyn.
