I send you a brief manuscript which I sent to Mr Woodhead the manager of Mind in Nature some ten days ago. It was returned to me with no word of criticism Save that Mrs Woodhead wrote me her husband had several articles upon the same subject received before mine

The thoughts I have noted, were suggested by reading a recent sermonEditorial Note: The sermons of Professor Swing and other prominent clergymen were regularly published in the Chicago Inter Ocean. by Prof Swing published in the Inter OceanEditorial Note: Chicago Inter Ocean, I do not send the article to you for publication, I only wish you to read and if you have time tell me if I did wrong in sending it as I did. Mr W. did not send me one word

I asked his criticism but he gave none - I told him if he thought the article unfit for publication to return to me immediately, and I had to wait ten days, I do not ask you to return, burn when you have read.

Every day I feel that I am growing stronger in the Truth you so plainly taught, but I then so little comprehended I am following as best I can the light you pointed out. Excuse haste, a sewing woman and house cleaning are in order, Accept my love and believe me true. Affectionately
