Accession: 589.60.001
Editorial Title: Mattie Williams to Mary Baker Eddy, December 1, 1883
Author: Mattie Williams
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: December 1, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Mattie Williams on embossed lined paper from Columbus, Wisconsin.
Editorial Note: Williams is replying to a letter (not extant) that she received from Mary Baker Eddy. Williams tells Eddy of her husband's opposition to her studying Christian Science. She writes that she has been having Christian Science literature sent to a Mrs. Smith who herself is very interested in Christian Science. Williams speaks highly of Smith's character. Much of Williams's letter is about Fannie M. Silsbee, whom Williams apparently has great respect for. Williams recounts various tragedies that have taken place among Silsbee's family members and how Silsbee has managed to rise above these challenges.
