My dear Mrs Eddy,

Mr Day showed me a letter in which you say I put you in line with Schwartz etc

I had no such intention in my letter– It is we poor ChicagoEditorial Note: Chicago, Illinois ScientistsEditorial Note: Christian Scientists who in the outside intimation - are so classed; I have been giving "parlor talks" in some of the suburbs for weeks past - almost solely to correct the unfavorable opinion the newspaperAs Written:news paper reports have made in regard to meta-Editorial Note: Probably metaphysics or metaphysicians. in general-

The popular mind does not discriminate between the two schools, yours and his-Editorial Note: The two “schools” here are the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy and of A. J. Swarts.. But then the comfort of it all is, that the truth will stand, and thoughAs Written:tho that schoolEditorial Note: The teachings of A. J. Swarts. makes a great buzz just now it is a sort of general "chemical"Editorial Note: “Chemicalization” is a term Mary Baker Eddy used to refer to a temporary stirring up of symptoms or process of “fermentation” as errors of various types are being destroyed. – and the froth is passing As Written: pasing off. I am not unjust to you or underrate what glorious things you have been enabled to accomplish, but I hope I am brave enough to speak the truth even to you- Miss Browns suggestions were all reiterated in your last instructions in regard to the college. and we had decided that they were impracticable. However I will do my best in whatever way leads away from envy malice hatred and evil - and I ask - beseech for wisdom from the source of all wisdom I do love you very dearly- and hope you will not forget your student who is trying to "stand fast"Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. - I am very sorry I cannot come to the Normal this term- but I really think I will do better to wait till your next, when I shall- I hope - be able to pay for my tuition. You know I had a daughterEditorial Note: Mary B. Day or Jessie Day married this last summer - and it was quite a drain on my resources. I envy those who are going to hear your lectures this next week, and hope that "husband of mine" will be able to bring home a great treasure. Please do not mention my letter to any of them

Miss Brown told a patient of hers that there should be no college started here that she did not manage- She must have said it for the patient did not know anythingAs Written:any thing about the collegeAs Written:coll. You ask Mrs Bell about it- I think you will get some new news. Mrs Bell is- as you know 'True blue', a lovely woman and most thoroughly reliable– Is this small gossip? It looks like it now I have written it, but I did not know how else to say what I wanted you to know - Pardon it if it seems meddling As Written: meddlig and just write me a line to say you still like me, will you?
