Jessie Day (1859-1933) was born in New Jersey and died in Seattle, Washington. She was the daughter of Orrilla and George Day, both students of Mary Baker Eddy's. Although she also expressed an interest in studying with Eddy, there is no record of her doing so. In 1889, Day compiled and arranged the first hymnal specially prepared for Christian Science services titled Hymns and Tunes for the Church of Christ (Scientist). It was published privately in Chicago, Illinois, by her mother. Day joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 30, 1894. She was listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner in Illinois from 1899-1912.
