Since I have been to so much expense in repairs, I cannot afford to rent the house for less than it was rented before you took it.

Shall therefore be obliged to raise your rent for the house to the rate of $500Editorial Note: $500.00 in 1886 is the equivalent of $13,766.58 in 2020. per annum dating from February first 1886, and charge you for water tax, dating from Oct 1st 1885. Payment to be sent to me the first day of each month.

Please reply at once.
