My dear Son,

I was rejoiced to read the decision As Written: decission of your lawsuit

The scripture saith "once I was young and now I am old but I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread"Ps 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Accept many thanks for the beautiful ring taken from the bowels of the earth over which you have dominionGen 1:26 ¶And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. . I shall keep it so long as I live on this earth in loving memory of my son. But it is too large for my fingers now. I am fifty pounds lighter than when you saw me last, but I am in divine health.

Now dear one, I have a request to make, namely, that you proceed at once to invest in a suitable house for your children. Do not wait one week, nor until you spend the good sum of money you have been paid, but buy a lot large enough for a home and build on it. Will you do this? If my dear Grandson, Gersham, wrote the last letter to me I want to help him on his spelling, and if he will not be displeased I will enclose As Written: inclose a list of words that are not used nor pronounced properly, and are misspelled.

I should most gladly have sent you all Christmas presents but I have no one to buy them for me my adopted son is away from me this winter on the business that must be attended to. I seldom go out to buy anything here, and have been in Boston but

twice for two years, and into a store but twice. I thank you for the kind invitation to be with you in Chicago. But dear son, I have lost all relish for vain things and had better be reading my Bible while you are enjoying the great Show.

Tender love to all. Ever Affectionately Your
Mother
