I told Mrs Wheeler to dismiss Gersham from the class unless he quit his music.
I do not blame dear Gershom As Written: Gersham in the least, I blame his Mother alone who has brought about all this difficulty by influencing you, after our talk against his studying it, to have Gershom As Written: Gersham take up music. Mrs. Wheeler is not to blame in the least. My eyes are open and no one but the one named has caused this difficulty. I want your children educated
No greater disgrace rests on my family name than the ignorance of the parents of these darling children.
You could read in the bible very well when you left your Mother long ago. It should be a shame to anyone As Written: any one at any age not to be able to read. If I were 50 years old and could not read I would learn to do it then, even if I knew I should not live a year longer.
The laws of MassachusettsAs Written:Mass- forbid this ignorance. Your wife ought As Written: aught to be ashamed to remain unable to read, if she is. For the sake of your dear children you should both of you learn to read and write. It would be a great help to them
If she will read to me a page of Science And HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy wherever I open to it, I will then talk with you about her joining my next class.
If you dismiss Mrs. Wheeler from doing for your children this act of kindness in teaching them that their parents cannot do, you will displease me.
