We bought your very valuable work Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and I am thankful to say it has been a great benefit to us; words cannot express it. We are greatly interested in the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, and my sisterEditorial Note: Mabel had two sisters, Clara A. Goold and Anna M. Goold, living in Portland, Maine, in 1886. is thinking of taking the course. We take the Christian Science Journal and in one of its columns I saw an account of the sad experience of one who took lessons of a teacher not recommended by you.

I now ask you if you will please inform me, if any of your students in Portland are qualified and authorized by you to teach Christian Science. Please write as soon as convenient and greatly oblige,
