I am writing this to inquire in regard to the "Metaphysical Treatment" I have friends who very much interested in this new scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science and the wonderful cures that are reported as resulting from its use and these friends have urged me to call upon you & give you the particulars in regard to my sister's illness and think it possible that she may be benefitedAs Written:benefitted therefrom I thought perhaps I could address you by letter first and then if necessary I could call upon you at the College. My sister has been a teacher for about two years but last spring while she was in Medfield MassachusettsAs Written:Mass. teaching she took a severe cold and when she came home at June she was suffering from what the doctor's called acute bronchitis she was under homeopathic treatment during the summer and returned to her school work in Sept. by her doctors permission, much to our regret and surprise for we felt that her cough was no better & she seemed very feeble At the end of two weeks we insisted that she give up her school which she did at the end of the following week. Then I consulted a physician in MelroseEditorial Note: Melrose, Massachusetts in regard to her case and he seemed to think that it would not prove especially beneficial for her to see Dr. Bowditch or any specialist but if she was placed under the care of any good allopathist we would see an improvement in a short time. She has been under the care of such a doctor since that time but we have not seen her improving but the reverse. About three weeks ago, one physician had a consultation with another doctor who is quite successful in his treatment of lung troubles and and in some respects she has improved since that time. he made some changes in medicines still she is very feeble and her cough very bad. She does not sit up very much, that is, she rises about twelve at noon and is able to sit with the family at the dinner-table. She has but very little appetite & has not been able to each much during her illness, some days she lies down again on the sofa by 2.30 P.M. and remains there until tea-time and returns by 8 o'clock for the night She has suffered about noon with chills and in the pm. would be very hot with a high temperature, All this time she has shown no signs of discouragement but is sure that she will soon be well. and has an excuse for all her bad feelings She says as soon as the weather is warm she will be well again. The Doctor says that her left lung is very badly diseased and the right lung just beginning to be inflamed. She has never had hemorrhage and never had night sweats. Now her disease is one that baffles the skill of all physicians but do you think that her case is one that can be cured by your manner of treatmentEditorial Note: Christian Science? I have heard of many diseases that have yielded to that treatment but never of a cure for consumptionEditorial Note: tuberculosis and can you treat her without seeing her or having her know anything about it? for the idea of any change worries her very much - and if so, what would be the expense of such treatment? Would it be necessary for you to see any member of the family. She of course is not able to leave the house to go away for treatment. Will you please give me particulars and greatly oblige
