L. Emma Perley (1849-1917) was born in Georgetown, Massachusetts, and died in Malden, Massachusetts. Perley trained as a teacher at the Salem Normal School (now Salem State University) and worked for many years as a teacher in the Malden public school system. Although she expressed an interest in Christian Science, there is no record of her studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church.
