The "Christian Science" of which your journalEditorial Note: Buswell was listed as the person to contact for subscriptions to The Christian Science Journal in the October 1883 issue. treats is being very creditably demonstrated in ChicagoEditorial Note: Chicago, Illinois by a few persons of undoubted good standing and sense. A few weeks ago a certain Mr Charles went to BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts for the purpose of studying the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science referred As Written: refered to — , Mrs Eddy being the first. The result of his errand was he studied under a certain Mr E. J. Arens.

Last evening a torn piece of your Journal of Oct 6thEditorial Note: The October 1883 issue of The Christian Science Journal. accidentally fell into my hands. In it was that article "Infringement of "Science and Health" etc"Editorial Note: “Infringement of "Science and Health," Etc.—Decision of the United States Circuit Court” in the October 1883 issue of The Christian Science Journal. which told of this Mr Arens offences against Mrs Eddy, and accounted for the stories against Mrs E's character, books, etc which Mr Charles had brought directly from Mr Arens. In fact, nothing could be more damaging if believed.

Although we are all sure that Mrs Eddy, and the Truth she teaches will stand in spite of such, still it seems best to me to circulate, among the friends of the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, who are far away and cannot know the truth, a copy of that article which shows this Arens standing before the Court in Boston, and I also expect to obtain subscribers for your paper by it. Wish to send my own name with others soon

Will you please send me a copy (Oct 6th)Editorial Note: The October 1883 issue of The Christian Science Journal. as a sample copy. I wish to ask if the books "Science and Health"Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy could be bought for less than $3,00Editorial Note: $3.00 in 1884 is the equivalent of $79.23 in 2020. if we should buy numbers of them.
