Kansas City, MissouriAs Written:Mo., Feb. 25, 1910.
I will take the privilege and write you my third letter. My first letterEditorial Note: See 685P2.78.013. was written January 1888 asking you to let me enter your next primary class to receive your personal instructions how to be saved from self and wrong teaching. This request you granted, and you admitted me into your March 1888 class. It was a case of tear down, remove and rebuild As Written: re-build , quite different to my first teaching, which had a tendency to puff up my German pride and self self-righteousness As Written: righteousness .
My second letterEditorial Note: See 685P2.78.015. to you was telling you of the birth of my daughter, Bertha. I must tell you first that in the first or second day's session of the class I told you that we expected a newcomer As Written: new comer in our home. You said "Do not worry about that, I will take care of that, as I want you to get all the good of my class instructions possible". All went well. I left Boston March 2 7th. Bertha was born April 3rd. Soon after I wrote you a letter telling of the demonstration, which called forth a letter of rejoicingEditorial Note: See L08744. from you, a copy of which I enclose.
Bertha was a good child from the beginning, teachable at all times, obedient to all her teachers, and her mother, graduating from St. Joseph High School with high honor. From the beginning she manifested an unusual voice beginning to sing at a very early age.
She and her mother are now in Boston pursuing her studies in voice culture. I am enclosing you copies of letters from her teachers and from the chairman of the Music Committee of the H.H. Rogers Memorial Church, Fairhaven. You will note from these letters that the writers believe that she has a voice possessing unusual qualities. Should you at any time wish to listen to her interpretations of your poems set to music she will be glad to comply.
She and her mother are now at home at 283 Newbury St., Boston.
Since the privilege of class instruction from you, I have striven faithfully to apply your teachings to the problems of life with gratifying success, and the way is growing clearer unto the perfect dayProv 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. .
