I have not had the pleasure having a line from your pen, for many long months. I have just had occasion to visit BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts as a delegate to the National Womans Christian Temperance Union; and it is the first visit I have made there since I was a member of your class at your Metaphysical College in May 1887.
I stand so much alone here that it was quite encouraging to be at Chickering hall on Sunday and attend SundayAs Written:S. School and hear a good sermon from Mr. Norcross. I also called at the C. S. Journal office and met Miss. Clark. I was interested to hear of the success of the week in general and the increase of subscribers to the Journal.
It would have afforded me so much pleasure to have been permitted to see you again. I asked Miss. Clark if she thought it possible for me to do so by going to ConcordEditorial Note: Concord, New Hampshire! I would have remained a day or two longer and availed myself of the opportunity, if she had encouraged me to make the effort.
I want to tell you dear Teacher that I am holding steadfastAs Written:stead fast to Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and see more clearly every day Truth as manifested in its pages. Science and Health is all that it claims to be as a key to the Scriptures and I read and study my Bible with renewed interest and unwearying devotion.
I am trying to live Christian Science and to teach it, by act,- word - and deed! While in Boston I purchased a copy of "Retrospection and Introspection" and have read it with pleasure and profit as well. I am happy to learn somethingAs Written:some thing of your early reminiscences, and to know more of the chastening which has doubtless had much to do with developing your spiritual insight, and given you the understanding of Truth - Love and Life as taught in the Bible.
Will you not dear Teacher think of me sometimesAs Written:some times and send me a thought that will assure me and encourage me to continue steadfast and faithful at my post of duty? There is a fearful mixing up of Spiritualism - TheosophyEditorial Note: Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831–1891) developed the teachings of theosophy. Blavatsky and her followers saw theosophy as representing the ultimate synthesis of religion, philosophy, and science, and felt it would lead the way to a more advanced stage in the spiritual evolution of humanity.
