Your favor of the 29thEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. receivedAs Written:rec. was duly received. In reply let me thank you for your kind offer of gratuitous instruction to me. I should like very much to act upon the offer did circumstances permit. I have always been a truth seeker, however indifferent may have been the results of my search. I doubt not I shall enjoy & profit by your instruction. It is but candid however to say that in my present frame of mind I fear you would hardly think me a desirable student – but I am very much interested in the whole subject of Metaphysical treatment & have given it considerable thought since my attention has been called to it. But my duties here are so pressing & imperative that I do not see any opportunity to get away at present or likely to occur in the near future.
As to my Wife’s case – She has been greatly benefited by Mrs Leavitts treatment – tho. she has not attained that perfection in health she desires. But she is a believer in the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science - & has been able to help others somewhat & is anxious to know more that she may be able to help those who need it more effectively.
Mrs Marshall has no expectation of practicing at all professionally or for Compensation. All her patients are on the free list (helping them for love’s sake) & she has no present expectations of having any other kind of patients.
You will perceive from this why she does not feel able to incur a great expense in taking lessons. If you would like to see her any time this month she will endeavor to come to you at the day & hour you may appoint.
The Curriculum which you spoke of mailing to me has not been received. I am therefore uniformed on the points which I was expected to learn from that –
truly Yours.
