B. D. (Benjamin DeForest) Marshall (1826-1906) was born in Egremont,
Massachusetts, and died in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was a minister at First Baptist
Church in Worcester from 1873 until 1887. He became interested in Christian Science in
1884 when his wife received Christian Science treatment through prayer from Annie V. C.
Leavitt, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. There is no record of Marshall studying with
Mary Baker Eddy. However, his wife, Catherine, took Primary (1885) and Normal (1887)
class instruction with Eddy.
