Dear Mrs. Eddy,

I have a great desire to attend your Sept. Class for I feel that I must learn of you personally before I shall feel fully prepared for work.

I was healed, or at least remarkably relieved of beliefs of many yearsAs Written:yrs standing a little over a yearAs Written:yr, ago, & since then have spent most of the time in the study & practice of Christian Science, I studied (ostensibly) with Mrs. Reed of Clinton Iowa, who had treated me, but really have got all any knowledge from "Science & Health"Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, except what I have learned since I came to assist Mrs. Fenn, July 5th.

My practice had been among relatives & friends & charity patients until I came here, so that I had receivedAs Written:rec’d for work less than thirty dollarsEditorial Note: $30.00 in 1885 is the equivalent of $800.04 in 2020..

Having been nearly all my life unable to work, my support has devolved upon my sistersEditorial Note: Frances A. Burnham and Sarah P. Burnham, who are teachers, & I shall have to borrow money for my tuition, so that if you can instruct me for less than the usual price, your kindness will be most thankfully receivedAs Written:rec’d.

In case I should be able to attend your next Class, please tell me where & at what terms I can obtain board, & when the Class begins.
