Dear Mrs. Eddy,

Enclosed you will find Postal Note for one dollarEditorial Note: $1.00 in 1884 is the equivalent of $28.22 in 2018. for which please send me the Journal Christian Science for one yearAs Written:yr. beginning with Oct.

Pardon me if I trespass on your time & kindness by asking a few questions. I am studying Metaphysics with Mrs. Reed of this place who cured me of a complication of diseases of sixteen yearsAs Written:yrs. standing Mrs. R. studied with B.Y. Sherman of Chicago.

I have begun practicing a little among my family & friends, but there are some points which are not plain to either Mrs. R. or myself

Is an accurate knowledge of Physiology & the names & symptoms of different diseases necessary to metaphysicians? & what is meant on Page 221 : Vol. 1stEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. by finding the type of a fever?

In acute diseases where the demand for instant action is very pressing (in Diphtheria As Written: Diptheria for instance) is continued constant treatment until the symptoms abate the right way?

If one has several (supposed) diseases produced by different causes, shall we argue against all in every treatment, or take them up separately. For instance, one lady has what her physician called chronic irritation of the outer membrane of the spinal chord in the back of the neck caused by striking on the back of her head when thrown from a buggy a good many yearsAs Written:yrs. ago. also mentions a severe cold which some medicine a physician gave her relieved in a day or two. but says she has never felt well since. She herself attributes her ill health to Scarlet Fever when she was five yearsAs Written:yrs. old. Added to all this last Spring she had sore throat with delirium & kidney troubles. & ever since her back has been weak at the kidneys & she cannot walk as before.

Dear Mrs. Eddy, If you can give me a little help I shall be most grateful. I was very anxious to come to your Institute for personal instructions from you, but it was impossible at present. However I hope to be able to do so sometime in the future.

Yours very truly.
Julia. M. Burnham.
