Dear. Mrs Eddy..

The first of May I was treated by Mrs. Fenn of OmahaEditorial Note: Omaha, Nebraska and was greatly benefited although some of my beliefs still cling to me. I am very much interested in the scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science and would gladly take up the work if I was prepared. I was brought up in a very orthodox way, my parents being members of the United Presbyterian church, and at the age of thirteen years, I joined with them.

At first my greatest fear was, that your teaching might conflict with my religious belief, but the more I study your booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures the more convinced I am of the truth contained in them.

My greatest fear now is, that if I undertake the work, I might unknowingly do something to bring reproach on the causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science..

God Almighty knows that I am conscientiously in earnest in this matter and will always do right so far as I know.

Since reading your booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures I can understand the Bible better and have lost all interest in other reading. Mrs. Fenn encourages me and thinks I should go to BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts soon as possible. There is great need of some good ScientistsEditorial Note: Christian Scientists here. Mrs Fenn is doing a noble work in Omaha.

Now Mrs Eddy do you think it best for me to go to Boston feeling as I do or will my fears all leave me. I know if I can get to fully understand the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science and can do the work faithfully and well, I will not fear anythingAs Written:any thing that man can Say or do. Mr Rodgers and his sister Mrs Stevenson, of this place think they will go to Boston the first of September and I trust the Lord will make the way clear for me to go the same time.

Hoping this may find favor and that I may hear from you Soon -

I remain in all Sincerity -
Mrs. S. E. Benford
