I am moved to address the writer of "Science and Health"Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy as I read your "reply to a clergyman" where the words occur "Hence if there is any thingCorrected:anything to be doctored it is God" etc. I groaned in spirit and could go no further until I come to you and say God bless you- for placing before the minds of all- the spiritual light and understanding of the Scriptures– that lifts the mantle of obscurity and makes the path plain to any but the willfully blind. Is it not past understanding that such a false interpretation could be placed by a clergyman- upon your words? The thought will arise- was he sincere? if so- we must continue to extend our hand until all such can come within its clasp:- if his motive was sordid- the fruits of his works will be sufficient to disarm all hostility- The ignorant gives us cause daily to lament their short comingsCorrected:shortcomings but O! what word is there pealed forth in tones of thunder to pierce the understanding of a professed christian who will dare place a stumbling block in christianity's way? verily it seems like profanity- No wonder the clergy of today preach to empty benches– The wordld is tired of the letter of christianity– A religion that makes prayer a profession- life a burden and death a terror needs guard well- the entrance- lest at any time an angel be entertained unawaresHeb 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. .

There must be a fearful accounting somewhere. This "blind leading the blindMatt 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Matt 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Luke 6:39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? cannot go on forever- we can afford to be patient and grow ourselves– our very lives (works) shall attest of faith– We can bear misrepresentation for God knows—

Your interpretation (understanding) of the Scriptures is my life, although "Science and Health"Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy came to my hand recently- it does not seem new to me- only a part of me-- I have lived and thought as you write consequently my life [?] Unclear or illegible  has been and is (independent of all surroundings) a very harmonious and happy one– I can feel Gods Corrected: God's presence; it is a continual sourse Corrected: source of enjoyment and draw from the fount daily, yet until I read your S & HEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy- never found one with whom I could agree with so fully– I look upon marriage in the general acceptance of the term, as an abomination in the sight of the Lord and asked Miss Rawson how you could remarry believing as you wrote- but she explained to me the stand you took- and permit me here to offer you my hand and repeat- God bless you- While not one I ever haver ever known has accepted my view on this important question and carried them out yet I was not afraid to stand alone- for I felt I was right and now I am reaping the reward daily, and know I am alone no longer– But how dare I encroach upon your most precious time– pardon me– you are in my thoughts daily.

The God principle will sustain you- closer closer we come daily– your years outnumber mine but I can follow–
