Mention was made in last Sunday's issue of a lecture on Christian Science, delivered by a Mrs H. A. Heathwood, stating that "she had just returned from Boston where she completed a Normal course at Mrs Eddy's College & would at an early date teach a class of those interested in that Science."

In justice to the News who was evidently misinformed on the subject; & as a warning to "those interested in this Science" against being too hastily led into accepting as genuine the artistically plated article presented to them by a polished & expert salesman, it is desired, on behalf of Mrs Eddy, the author & founder of Christian Science & Mental Healing (not Mind-cure, so-called) to state; that Mrs H. A. Heathwood alias "Madame Jerome", never received a lesson in the Science from Mrs Eddy, or from any person connected with the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, of which she (Mrs E.,) is the founder & head, authorized by her to teach the Normal course – Further: the right or authority to teach this course is not vested in any person outside of the Author of the Science, nor would Mrs Heathwood be received at Mrs Eddy's College as eligible for the course, she never having practiced Mental Healing.

N. B. The Society Editors of the News declined no doubt to make any correction, for the reason that in her Notice of the lecture she had stated just what she had been given to believe was correct, either by the lecturer herself, or by some person authorized to speak for her. Mrs Heathwood did not deny the lie to a student (Mrs. Root) who called on her prior to my interview with her. Again if this card of July 12 is true (for it does not state that she took a first as well as "a second course in christian Science at this school) the Certificate which she displays, signed by Read & Buswell, showing her to have taken both, is either a falsehood or a forgery.
