April 8th – 1884,
In the absence of my beloved husband I write you dear, though you are busy, and so are we – We may have, because of my beloved husband’s As Written: husbands business, to be in Titusville Pa where we all tried to be next week, - perhaps this week; may have to be there some Little time My dear friend and teacher, neither words nor Letter can explain to you the absolute need of my beloved husband’s As Written: husbands personal presence in arranging their As Written: there excessively intricate business matters - We have had to sacrifice a great deal to do what has been done, and shape things as they are shaping so as to study with you during this summer The Word of Life Money my dear teacher has to be earned, - it does in no more come from The clouds, - nor from a supposition, - but labor, - and money we have to have to carry out The purpose of Life and do our duty to our fellows. We have a Loving note from Carrie Judd asking us there for a time, - but we have no time for such trips, - we are [?] Unclear or illegible & at work about our Master’s business”. Miss Hinkley is so fit for the work I feel so sorry matters keep her back. And Miss Hamlin is so fit to come, and yet she is hindered. And Mrs. Hull also, - yet Mrs. Hull does teach people now, - yet she wants to study with you. And Mrs Taylor and Mrs Moore whom I mentioned, and in July they will all hope to be with you in Boston at study – Let us hope so dear teacher

We are alive and happy dear teacher, our feet are on the rungs of the Ladder of Life. And we do all The good we have opportunity, but the swine turn oftenMatt 7:6 ¶Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. and see no pearl as you find it in your teaching experience. We are ever busy – And The winter (this nigh (Thank God we have come), has been fraught with exceeding Labor and trial, and the stress of both still hold as to our Line of duty – That we have all feel is a blessing to joyfully follow. We have had a clergy man high in the Presbyterian church to beg of us to show him the Light, that he acknowledges he sees illumine As Written: illuminie our Lives, - and he asks us to show him the way out of the “Wilderness” My beloved husband has been expecting to be in Providence and Boston at some time we cannot now name, of course Things have shaped up so, That we have ceased any plans, - only waiting now until we see the place. “ Be still and know that I am GodPs 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. ” as diadem of Light Looms up before us ever dear teacher.
Now I trust in God you are more quiet – And will understand all our mail comes in safely to us dear teacher dear Mrs Eddy, whom we hold in great tenderness, - and all your Letters are safely in my beloved husband’s As Written: husbands possession Locked and stored away, - so have no more thought of it dear - no human thought can detain God’s As Written: Gods image, - Legions of human thought could not confine God’s As Written: Gods image, and we are free in “His Liberty” – Now dear Mrs Eddy I beg pardon for writing so long a letter this Easter day – But the Easter, God, Life is ever ours, without mans rotating day.
