If you will pardon me troubling you, I should be glad of your advice regarding a person you doubtless As Written: doubless know — Mrs Merrick — who is causing me much trouble. Mrs Merrick is in this city practicing as a Metaphysician, but I think she hurts you & the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science very much. the way she talks.

When here, last Fall she several times used my name, without my permission in writing to you and she is now circulating false reports about me, for no other reason than envy – I have been thinking of taking measures against her, but I thought I would ask your advice first and I would be very much obliged if you will favor me with a line on the subject —
