My Dear Teacher,

I received your letterEditorial Note: See L05415. and was very glad to get it. I told Miss Cole the young Lady that expects to come to your Class in Sep. that I did not think that you would take the little one Legged Woman (whose name is Mary Lawson) on account of her infirmity. and Miss Cole has been unreasonable enough to be angry with me ever since. Miss Lawson is the Tailoress in the establishment when Miss Cole works as Bookkeeper, and they are very good Friends. I at first was afraid that it might make a difference with her, but she told me that her own mind was made up to go, I told her if it was worth twenty five dollarsEditorial Note: $25.00 in 1885 is the equivalent of $664.87 in 2020. to study with me it was better worth three hundredEditorial Note: $300.00 in 1885 is the equivalent of $7,978.48 in 2020. to study with you. And none of these Students that I have named will expect any greater reduction than you offer in the Journal, Although I have not heard from Miss Bradshaw since I wrote you before.

Miss Lawson was over to see me Sat - it seems that her mind was set on going, and she was so disappointed about it that she cried, she said she felt that she was shut out, anyhowAs Written:any how she said she felt that God was her Friend, I told her if you objected to teaching her yourself perhaps you would not object to someoneAs Written:some one else teaching her, I think she will write to you herself, I don’t As Written: dont think she will be satisfied unless she hears direct from you,

I know my Dear Teacher that you are always right. and I have always found in the end that you were. for in times past I am ashamed to say. that I have been so presuming as to differ with you. but I have learned now to take your word for everything, for as I advanced in ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science I see things differently, and I know that you who have been over the road know the way. but I can tell you that I have had a very hard time and I know now that if you had been able to have broken me down in that first Class and taken some of the conceit As Written: conciet out of me, it would have advanced me a year in the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science - but I have had to suffer out of it, and often then has been times I have been tempted to give it up, But you are mistaken in regard to me being afraid to let my Patients read the BooksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, for I lend mine all of the time, and I guess I have sold as many as the Average, I wrote Mr Fry inquiring what fifty sets As Written: setts would cost me. and I received no reply, and have neglected to send, but I have bought some of other students who had plenty on hand, so I am not afraid of that - My greatest weakness As Written: weekness lately has been to be shattered or disturbed over somethingAs Written:some thing that will happen and lose my equilibrium and have very hard work to recover it again and in the meantime I will observe the work of the enemy. I have been slightly disturbed ever since I told Miss Cole that that I mentioned, and she acted so, I used to have in belief very tender feelings, but I am trying hard to destroy those beliefs, if you please you may tell Mr Fry to send me a dozen sets As Written: sett of BooksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I shall send them Cash On DeliveryAs Written:C. O. D, please sell all I can -
