The undersigned respectfully request that you call a special meetingEditorial Note: This meeting was held on November 24, 1884, at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College building, with Mary Baker Eddy presiding as President of the Christian Scientist Association. There were eighteen members present. of the Christian Scientist Association for the purpose of considering the recent action of certain parties tending to injure our causeEditorial Note: The parties who were thought to be involved in actions injurious to the cause of Christian Science were Levi A. Childs, Fannie M. Silsbee, and Charles T. Lord, who were all expelled from the Christian Scientist Association at this meeting. Also brought up at the meeting was former Christian Scientist, Kate Taylor, whose pamphlet "Selfhood Lost in Godhood" was characterized as defaming Eddy's book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, as well as encouraging people to study with unauthorized teachers of Christian Science..
