I am sorry to trouble you about a doubtful matterAs Written:mattr, but I must. I think you know I never As Written: nevr want to trouble you needlessly. Now it is about Belle Beecher, she has always been a great care, and one that has required constant watching, and has allowed herself to be used as a tool in more than one instance. Either she is very As Written: vry unsuspecting, or very As Written: vry deep and cunning, I am inclined to think the latterAs Written:lattr, but do not want to judge. Sometimes I think, she acts so green, that she is not in her right mind; anyway As Written: any way she seems to think it her mission to be constantly As Written: constanly on the warpath As Written: war path to vilify As Written: villify someone As Written: some one in the ranks of Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S. It is in this way that she has been used as a tool I think. In the first place she tried to make me as well as yourself, believe that Bradford Sherman was a traitor to your instructions, and said to me that he was not fit to take the Normal Course. I found out from others more reliable, that this was false – Then she was constantly running to me with complaints – of Mr. Morrill, some of which were As Written: wre true – next, came Ms Philbrick, and finally As Written: finaly she decided to let her tiny hatchet fall upon Dr. Avery- He is not a Christian ScientistAs Written:C. S. never As Written: nevr has practiced it, does not now. This is all I have against him. But she claims to know some very dark deeds et ceteraAs Written:&c, and without saying anything to anyone As Written: any one started for B–Editorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts to expose him to you- feeling she was God's chosen to expose this arch traitor to Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S. After this noble (?) mission was fulfilledAs Written:fulfiled, we hoped this little busybody As Written: busy body would settle down and go to work to help build up the causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science.. I will say right here that she has come to me several times and acknowledged where she had done wrong, and promised to do betterAs Written:bettr, whereupon As Written: wherupon I have helped her, counseled As Written: counciled her – given her treatments for Mal-Mes – and have given her two dresses, and a bonnet in the last year, because I loved her, and she seemed so poor. Now I have a letter As Written: lettr from her telling me she has been "a spy in the camp of the enemy" and can "prove to those" capable & worthy "to understand the subtlety of error". This is just the trouble, and I have told her so, that she had better spend her time studying and practicing Truth. But one might as well talk to the wind. There is no dependence to be placed in her. I have accounted for it largely As Written: largly in this way. She lives with an AuntEditorial Note: Possibly Helen A. Lewis or Nellie A. Lewis who is a rank spiritualist – and hates Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S. she is a perfect demon I should think from what I hear- Now Belle has decided to attack another party, Mr. Whitehead. She is going to prove now that he is a Judas. It is difficult for one to conceive of one so young to be engaged in such business, and dreadful to think how much her attitude of mind may do to avoid making them what she is trying to prove. Mr. Whitehead may be a Judas, others As Written: othrs have fallen, others have been known to turn aside as many of your men Students have – but I shall wait and judge not until I have the proof, I would rather As Written: rathr be the sufferer, than be the one to cause an innocent person to suffer. I know how little it takes to tip the beam in either As Written: eithr the right or wrong direction. Now dear Teacher I simply write you these things that you may judge for yourself, and advise me- what to do, I am praying f or light and wisdom to do right by everyoneAs Written:evry one.
