Again I have occasion to write you & again I must beg you to excuse pencil for I have but a few minutes & am not where I can get a pen. I am getting on splendidly in all cases but one. That is the one I took from Mrs Poole Mr Albert G Emery a prominent As Written: promenent lawyer here He is not gaining as I wish & I feel I ought to see a more rapid improvement His belief is rheumatism & he is not able after three week's As Written: weeks treatment to sit up but an hour a day. It was of him I spoke to you in regard to teaching & "I shall hold the fort" until he can take it for Mrs Poole has selected this place as her next field having already tried to induce two ladies to study with the promise of fitting them for the work of healing
Do you think she hold Mr Emery back or is it a case that requires time He was given up by the M D's, his limbs useless & very badly swollen They can be moved but very little now & he has intense pain at times in belief Do you think there is anything I lack I may be impatient but I see such immediate effects on my other patients that I think I have not got at this as I ought & this is the one that all say can'tAs Written:cant be cured. Mortal mind hinders it but I take up everythingAs Written:every thing I know. I thought I would ask you & perhaps I could get some aid in it I think Mrs Poole is in some way responsible for his slow recovery or what seems to me slow. Oh if I could only have you here for a little while I know you would raise him & allay that inflammationAs Written:inflamation. I am not able to do what I desire but I shall hold the promise & God will answer I brought my husband here & try to do the best I can & I think my efforts will clear up what appears to be loss of mental power I find a little care in attending to his dressing & caring for him but I shall trust that God will shine with healing power & that he will soon be able to care for himself. My faith is very very strong & I am ready & willing to do all that is given me to do I have only a few patients As Written: pateents now & this Mr Emery I am treating without remuneration because it is one of the most worthy cases His wife three weeks ago was unable to sit up but a short time, for two weeks she has been around, & is now perfectly well Do you think I am expecting too much of him? You know I do not know how long patients are in getting up from such reduced conditions. Be patient with my importunitiesAs Written:importuneties, & if you can, please help me in this case or tell me if I am not treating it right. I will send money for books soon as I collect it Now I will close Your mention of me at the Association was a blessing to me I have not been troubled with that influence since but have been strong & have had no thought of that terrible night I am doing just as I think you would approve & God is blessing me Love to dear Mrs Hopkins & remember me kindly to Dr Frye & Miss Bartlett & with much love I am
