Alice B. Poole (c.1845-1916) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and died
in Old Town, Maine. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing the Primary class
in 1883. There is no record of her joining the Christian Scientist Association or
uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist). After studying with Eddy, Poole started
an active healing practice in Gardiner, Maine. In 1885, she moved to Portland, Maine,
and continued to practice until about 1892. Although Poole applied for admission to The
First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1912, her application
was rejected for an administrative reason and she never resubmitted it.
