Your correspondent is a man past 50 years of age, a graduate of Dickinson College (Carlisle Pa); for five years a teacher of metaphysics and other sciences in Methodist Seminaries - studied theology and became a Methodist Preacher, was Pastor of Churches in Paterson and Newark New JerseyAs Written:N.J. - was denounced as hereticalAs Written: hertical , and though still recognized as a Methodist Clergyman - is still under the fame of suspicion with respect to the faith

A perusal of your "Science and health"Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy led to an earnest desire to study with you the science of LifeEditorial Note: Christian Science, and the object of this present writing is to ascertain how I can best accomplish the purpose. My means are moderate and I have a family somewhat dependent, Mrs Day is studying As Written: studing in this City with a Mrs. Noyes - one of your Metaphysicians. I am compelled to earn a living as Cashier and Bookkeeper As Written: Book Keeper in a Manufactory Establishment. If it can be arranged I should like to enter your College for the months of May and June. If I could subsequently - i.e. during vacation practice Healing to the extent of support of self and family till the evening term I might make it practicable to reach BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts the 1st of May.

Will you be kind enough to state terms and your idea of the way I could best carry out my purpose of becoming As Written: be coming your pupil
