Do you begin your class the 29th of March or have you postponed it? There is a lady here who would go into your class if she could have time to get there– It is about three days' As Written: days journey from hereEditorial Note: Atlanta, Georgia to BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts If there is a chance for her to enter and you would like to take her please send me telegram to that effect at once– I feel that she will make a very desirable student– In the first place she is thoroughly good and smart and is perfectly well– She is ready to make any sacrifice and will make it her lifeworkAs Written:life work– She is very highly recommended to me by the best of people–

I do hope there is a chance for her right away to begin the study of Christian Science under your teachings– If there should not be she would want to come into my class here and begin the work– If it is too late for her to go into this class do you think you would have another very soon ? Please let me know–

I also have a student Mrs Rand of LittletonEditorial Note: Littleton, New Hampshire who is an intelligent nice lady the widow of a lawyer– She has been very successful in the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science and now wishes to study with you– I told her to write you –Do not know whether she will have the means to study in April or not she said she felt sure she would by the 1st of May Miss Osgood also writes me she would like to enter your April class if there As Written: ther is one– I do not know whether you want to take them or not but I tell them to write and find out Miss Osgood is doing beautifully

I am stopping in a large HotelEditorial Note: The H. I. Kimball House. This was the second large hotel by that name in Atlanta Georgia. Both were built by Hannibal Ingalls Kimball (1832-1895). The first was built in 1870 but was destroyed by fire in 1883. The second began operation on January 1, 1885 and was torn down in 1959.- It accommodates As Written: accomodates over six hundred families And the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science is doing its work here– I never have worked among such a fine class of people as a whole- My patients are the wives & daughters of people of note and it is worthwhileAs Written:worth while to have them started on the right side But Oh what a pity the "Books"Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy are not sent- I paid for 2 dozenAs Written:doz Books and 3 dozenAs Written:doz "Historical Sketch" when I was in Boston and they have not been sent yet- What is the reason? It is a shame for the work to be hindered in this way– When students are ready to work in selling Books they ought As Written: aught to have them sent when ordered & paid for– I have not had the privilege of one of them for myself yet.

We have had the most lovely weather since I have been here– It seems like much of our Summer weather at the North– It is just right & comfortable with the windows all open- I have been so busy I have seen but very little of the city yet–

A wife of one of the Prof. of the Atlanta University for colored people- comes to me and I have become much interested in that school & hope to be able to visit it– The Northern people in Atlanta are much interested in the colored people– but the Southerners still look down upon them as not worthy of notice and often abuse them– A nice colored man wants me to take his wife as a patient but should I do so she would not be allowed to come to my room-

I will be kind to them and treat them as if they were white– but they think we are not accustomed to servants when we do this–

Atlanta is quite a new city- Sherman having burnt down nearly the whole city at the time of the war– There are many Northern people here which keeps me from being very homesick–

With much love & best wishes–
Your student
