This house in Lynn, Massachusetts, was owned by Mary Baker Eddy. During Eddy's ownership, the house was renumbered from 439 to 443 Boston Street. She acquired the mortgage from her student, George W. Barry, in February 1875 (at this time it was a common practice before widespread institutional lending for an individual to hold a mortgage and profit from interest paid on it). Eddy took ownership of the property in September 1879 when the mortgagee, Edwin Fuller, defaulted. Eddy continued to rent out the property until she sold it in June 1884.
