Nancy O. Woodis (b. Carrico) (1830-1933) was born in Beverly, Massachusetts, and died in Worcester, Massachusetts. She worked as a schoolteacher in Beverly for many years before moving to Worcester in the 1860s. There she worked in a shoe factory and, in 1873, married James R. Woodis, a leather cutter and bootmaker. In July 1886 she became a charter member of the Students Christian Scientist Association of Worcester No. 8. Woodis and her husband moved into the Worcester Odd Fellows' Home in 1892. After her husband's death in 1897, Woodis resided in the Odd Fellows' Home for another 36 years. Living to 103, she was celebrated as having been the oldest known resident of Worcester. She was a member of the Naomi Rebekah Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and of the Wesley Methodist Episcopal church.
