Martha Winne (c.1864-1930) was born in New York and died in San Bernardino, California. She was a public school teacher in Glens Falls' public schools and then principal of Ridge Street School in New York. In 1886, she was teaching Language at the Nebraska State Normal School when she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy about Christian Science. Winne studied Christian Science with J. Edward Smith. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Poughkeepsie, New York, and joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 3, 1899. She was still in correspondence with Eddy in 1906, when she expressed her gratitude for Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
