Mary R. Wilson (b. Russell) (1855-?) was born in Michigan and died in an
unknown location. She attended Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, and worked as a
schoolteacher. She married her college classmate Altus T. Wilson in Hillsdale in 1882.
In early 1886 Wilson became interested in metaphysical healing while living in Las
Vegas, New Mexico, and was thinking about studying with Clara E. Choate, a student of
Mary Baker Eddy's who had been expelled from the Christian Scientist Association.
Instead, despite the protestations of her husband, she decided to study with Eddy,
completing the Primary class in August 1886 and joining the Christian Scientist
Association that October. The Wilsons were living in Denver, Colorado, in 1887. It is
unclear what happened to Wilson after that time; Altus remarried in 1893.
