Amanda L. Willoughby (b. Davis) (c.1838-1913) was born in Indiana and died in Oakland, California. Willoughby was a Unitarian, and she married William C. Willoughby in Illinois in 1860. By 1880, the couple were living in Denver, Colorado. Willoughby first studied Christian Science with Bradford Sherman in 1885 before becoming a student of Mary Baker Eddy, completing her Normal class in January 1888. She was listed as a teacher and practitioner in Denver, Colorado, in The Christian Science Journal from 1890 to 1911. Willoughby joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in July 1893 and, for a short time in 1895, she served as Second Reader of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Denver. In 1897, she helped organize First Church of Christ, Scientist, Aspen, Colorado. She retired to California sometime between 1911 and her death in 1913.
