John P. Wiley (1856-1931) was born in Boston and died in West Medford, Massachusetts. He married Frances E. Wiley. Wiley was a military veteran who served in the National Guard, beginning as 1st Sergeant of G Company, being promoted to Provost Sergeant, and then to Captain on the staff of Major General Bridges. He was also a member of Boston 4 Lodge of Royal Arcanum and the Loyal Associates of Boston 4 Lodge of Royal Arcanum. After his military career, Wiley worked for many years for the New England News Company, a book and magazine distributor. It was in the service of this company that Wiley ordered copies of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
