Mary Whitman (1845-1927) was a lifelong resident of Belvidere, Illinois.
She expressed an interest in Christian Science in early 1885, when she wrote to Mary
Baker Eddy and asked for information about studying at the Massachusetts Metaphysical
College. Whitman didn't study at the College and instead took Primary Class with
Caroline D. Noyes, a student of Eddy's. In July 1893, Whitman joined The First Church of
Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a member until her passing.
