Silas White (1835-1896) was born in Havana, New York, and died in Guilderland, New York. He was a life insurance agent and later a clerk. He married Margaret S. White (b. Sherman) around 1860 and they lived in Albany, New York, moving to Indianapolis, Indiana, by 1870. Sometime before 1880 his wife moved back to New York, taking their daughter with her. White returned separately to New York, settling in Guilderland where he remained until his passing. In 1886 his wife became interested in Christian Science and wrote a letter to Mary Baker Eddy to inquire about studying it.
