Margaret S. White (1837-1903) was born and died in New York. In the 1880s, she was living in Watertown, New York. Having left her husband due to his opium addiction, she was working as a housekeeper to support herself and her daughter, Katherine. She encountered Christian Science in 1886, when Lysbeth L. Campbell, a student of Mary Baker Eddy, visited Watertown and was treating people. White wrote to Mary Baker Eddy that she would like to learn Christian Science. Eddy suggested Pamelia J. Leonard or Laura V. Lathrop as possible teachers.
