Mary B. Webster (1796-1880) was born and died in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
She married Nathaniel Webster, a sea captain, in 1817, and was a prominent spiritualist
in Amesbury. Mary Baker Eddy spent some time living in the Webster home when she first
arrived in Amesbury in 1867, and it was there that she met one of her future students,
Richard Kennedy. After a few months, Eddy was evicted by Webster's son-in-law, William
R. Ellis, as the family had become disenchanted with Eddy's views.
