She was a well-known Washington socialite and dressmaker, who operated stores in New
Orleans, Louisiana, New York, New York, and Chicago, Illinois. She became interested in
Christian Science in April 1885 and intended to study with Mary Baker Eddy, but there is
no record of her doing so.
