Frederick "Fred" T. Wallace (1820-1895) was born in Waterbury, Vermont, and died in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1846 he married Sylvia O. Wallace (b. Ford). Wallace studied law in western Massachusetts, and in 1848 he was elected to the Massachusetts legislature, serving two terms. He moved to Cleveland in 1853 and was elected to the city council in 1858. Wallace worked as a lawyer, and during the latter part of his life, he was also an author. His most well-known book, Men and Events of Half a Century, was published in 1882. In 1886, he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy on behalf of unnamed ladies of Cleveland to ask for information about studying at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College.
