Lizzie B. Twombly (1855-1934) (also known as Elizabeth T. Bent) was born
in Somerville, Massachusetts, and died in Eagle River, Wisconsin. She was a student of
Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her in January 1883. She joined the Christian Scientist
Association in February 1883, only attending a few meetings, and was dropped from the
Association in January 1888 for non-payment of dues in accordance with procedures of the
time. She returned to the movement when she joined The First Church of Christ,
Scientist, in June 1907, and later became a member of the Christian Science Society in
Eagle River.
